I have wanted to start a blog for quite some time now but it is so hard to know where to begin or what might be so important in my life that others would want to read about me, but for whatever reason, it is finally a good time for me to start the blog.
First, I want to talk about the title of my blog: A Life of Firsts. This has multiple meanings to me. For starters, I am a first grade teacher. My students have taught me the simple enjoyment in something happening for the first time in your life. They embrace every new experience full force and have really taught me to enjoy the new things in life. Granted not everything in my life is happening for the first time, but sometimes it is nice to be reflective of things we take for granted (i.e. re-experience them for the first time).
My fiancé, Travis, and I also embarked on a new journey just over a year ago. We moved from Wyoming, our one and only home, to try our hand at North Dakota. This is the second meaning in my title: A Life of Firsts. This adventure together has been a whole new adventure and one in which we have experienced a lot of firsts together. I hope to reflect back on some of our first in North Dakota through this blog.
Lastly, and this may be the silliest reason but, I wanted to have a place to record my outfits. I know, silly! When I student taught in the Spring of 2011, the para I worked with noticed that I wore a different outfit almost every day. I thought it was silly but last year when I took my first teaching job, I challenged myself to wear a different outfit everyday. Now, I cannot remember exactly what I wore everyday and if I was successful but it was fun to try and mix up my closet. I am not saying that I only wore every piece of clothing in my closet just once, but I had to wear each piece different than I had before. Turns out, it is quite challenging! So on the eve of the start of my second year teaching, I again am challenging myself to wear a different outfit everyday. My blog will be my record of how I do...
If you have ever experienced a first in your life, teach, or are interested in fashion, I encourage you to follow my blog. I will do my best to keep it updated and share anything new in my life. The life of a teacher can get very busy and overwhelming then add on top a little coaching and wedding planning and you have me: a life of firsts!
